When your pet is diagnosed with a terminal illness, we can help you with preparing, planning, and support. We can also go to your appointments with you  and offer stand in service if you are unable to attend your pets euthanasia.

"I have been in the Veterinary field for more than 20 years. I started working at an animal shelter as a kennel worker, moved over to an animal hospital, and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I also worked as a receptionist at the animal hospital and a pet cemetery. 

I knew early on that I had a gift with death. I used to be scared of it, until I started losing family and friends. My earliest memory of death, was my grandfather. He had suffered for a while and when my father told me of his passing, I said good. I knew how sick he was. I was 12.  I knew then that I wanted to comfort people that were dying and their family. As it turned out, I gave my grandmothers eulogy when I was 24.

In working in the veterinary field for so long, I noticed that people do not plan for their pets. When I got acutely sick, I realized that it is something I had to do for my dog. I no have a plan for him and can encourage others to do.

I grew up wanting to help everyone and every living thing! I am honored to be a part of a persons life and their death. I hope to help people feel less anxious and alone.   

This year, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and is thankfully doing alright. I accompanied her to all of her appointments and advocate for her.

In 2018, my father was very ill for 8 months until he was diagnosed with terminal  pancreatic cancer and I became his caregiver.  It was an honor and is what made me realize that I really loved helping people and taking care of end-of-life plans!

The only certainty we have is that we will die one day, why not plan it ahead of time? Then our loved ones have nothing to worry about and your wishes will be fulfilled! We can then spend that time telling stories and loving!  

Please do not be afraid to talk to your loved one, they need to know how you feel and that you are there for them.

Melanie is not a mental health professional.

Melanie is a member of a non-denominational church. The Harvest, is an all inclusive church and she volunteers to play in the worship band.  

Melanie enjoys playing in local Sarasota area establishments, open mics, and has her own musical endeavors. 

Melanie is currently working towards her Master's in Thanatology ( the study of Death, Dying, and Bereavement, and is a Caregiver Services Advisor in the Caregiver Resource Center of the Senor Friendship Centers.

Melanie also enjoys writing/blogging and learning more ways to assist pets and people in the end-of-life journey.
